Skip Foundation! || MAC SELECT COVER UP

MAC Select Cover UP
Price: $24CAD / 10ml
Blogsters' Rating: 5/5

Believe it or not, this actually my very first purchase from MAC and I'm quite impressed by it. I have been trying to find a good concealer for some time now, I kept doing search online and watching reviews on YouTube, yet still I wasn't able to make up my mind. So I went to my local MAC store without intentions of getting anything, but the moment I try out this concealer, I know I have to purchase one - MAC Select Cover Up.

Packaging

MAC Select Cover Up comes in a little tube. You can easily control the amount of product by light pressing the tube. This tube decide is also excellent for clean freaks like me as only the product at the very top is expose to air and the rest of the product remains in the tube untouched. This reduces the amount of growing bacteria by a lot. The only downside to the packaging is the small screw cap. I'm always afraid of losing it because it's so small. If they can somehow attach the cap to the tube, it would be perfect.

My Thoughts

This concealer comes in 13 different shades, and the one I got is in shade NW20. It's a perfect match for me, the product blends into my skin tone extremely well. It has a medium coverage, and it's very build-able. I only use a pea size of the product and it's more than enough to cover my dark areas, spots and even out my complexion. I can totally skip foundation with this concealer.  It claims to be a long wear concealer (up to 10 hours). However, I have oil / combination skin, I would say it starts to slide around after 3-4 hours. Putting powder on top of the concealer does prolong the wear of it.

The price of this product is a little bit on the higher side. However, you only require to use very little product to achieve a flawless complexion, so in the end the concealer will probably last you for at least six months. So I guess the price is not that bad.

That's it folks!!

Try this Out!! || Swissbel Vitamin B12 Cream Plus

Swissbel Vitamin B12 Cream Plus
Price: $240 HKD / 100ml
Blogsters' Rating: 5/5

Swissbel Vitamin B12 Cream Plus is one of the products that I have heard about many years but never had a chance to try it.  There are many positive reviews, almost all beauty guru or bloggers who have tried it has nothing bad to say about it. In addition, I have watched it transform from its old formula to its new, more advanced formula and new packaging. So, during my recent trip to Hong Kong, I finally got my hands onto one.

I would say the price on this cream is on the expensive side. Luckily, I got mine during their promotion, $200 HKD / 100ml, their original price is $240.

Swissbel Vitamin B12 Cream Plus is made by a Switzerland Company, they claimed it's an advanced moisturizer that hydrates, tightens, reduces wrinkles and fine lines, uplifts and firms the face and neck to rebuild skin's youthful and healthy appearance. The cream is also filled with moisturizing micro-capsules that continuously irrigate the skin to help maintain optimum cutaneous barrier.

Six Reasons Why Vitamin B12 Cream Plus Is Popular
.100% non-comedognic
.formulated with soothing Swiss mountain water
.100% fragrance free
.paraben free
.oil free
.hypoallergenic tested

Vitamin B12 Cream Plus consists of a lot of ingredients that helps improving the condition of the skin. Here are a list of ingredients that are very beneficial to the skin.
.glycerin
.pantheon
.vitamin C, E, B5, B12, B3
.salicylic acid (BHA)
.hyaluronic acid
.butler glycerol
.natural Rosa centifolia flower water

I have combination/sensitive skin, this cream definitely helped minimizing my pores and sebum. My skin feels tighter and more firm. I could say this cream absorbs relatively easy into the skin and does not leave a greasy surface or touch. I would say this cream might not be moisturize enough during winter time, (well, at least for the dry Canadian winter weather) some might require to apply an extra cream or moisturizer on top of it. This cream is also perfect as a makeup base. I have noticed that my makeup will stay in place and last longer, whenever I used it before applying makeup. Although, it claims to be fragrance free, there is a very mild rose scent. Probably due to one of its main ingredient - the natural Rosa centifolia flower water. I would definite repurchase this product and add it into my daily skincare routine.

Pure Smile Japanese Masquerade Sheet Masks Review

Pure Smile Japanese Art Face Mask
Price: $5.70 - $7.22 USD/ pc (Amazon)
Blogsters' Rating: 3.5/5

Packaging
I got 2 different masquerade sheet masks as a gift from my family (Green Dot and Pink Flower). They both have beautiful packaging and lovely artwork that illustrate the design of the actual mask. Although this product is mainy written in Japanese, It is made in Korea.

Serum
One package contains 27ml of serum and contains Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E. Sure enough there is a lot of serum left over in the package once you take out the sheet mask.

Scent
It is advertised to have a rose scent and sure enough, once you open the packaging, you can immediately smell a strong floral scent.  Although I am quite sensitive to cosmetic products with a strong scent, this particular one was not overwhelming or unpleasant for me although I would not recommended it to people who are sensitive to scented cosmetic products since the the mask has to be on the face for 15-20 minutes. The scent lingers after you remove the sheet mask as well unless you rinse off the serum afterwards.

Fit
A beautiful and elegant design on the sheet mask nonetheless but I found the material of the sheet mask a little thick so it does not cling to the skin as nicely as other thinner sheet masks. You would notice that as the serum is being absorbed by the skin / evaporates, the mask warps and create air pockets between the skin and the sheet. To avoid this from happening, you can apply the left over serum onto the mask and smooth it out over the skin once you feel like the mask is drying.

After Use
I left the mask on my face for 20 minutes and skin definitely felt moisturized and gave off a healthy glow. Although I have to say that it left my skin a little sticky so I had to rinse off some of the residue. The texture of the mask also left an imprint on my cheeks but it went away after a few minutes.

CHOSUNGAH 22 Dual Lip Tint & Gloss

Chosungah 22 Dual Lip Tint & Gloss
Price: $20 USD
Blogsters' Rating: 5/5

Chosungah 22 Dual Lip Tint & Gloss was on my "must try" makeup list ever since it was available in Sephora. Little did I know that it was only sold in the U.S. I was a little disappointed and asked all my friends if any of them would be travelling to the states any time soon (clearly I was desperate lol).  Luckily, my boyfriend went on vacation and was kind enough to get it for me.

Before trying out the actual product, I read on Chosungah's official website that this product is a "long lasting gel-type tint with high-viscosity and tight lip gloss that gives high moisturising nourishment with Cupuacu butter, express vivid colour and elastic lips." I applied it on my lips as instructed.

I like the finish of this lip dual a lot.  I've tried many other Korean brand lip tints before, but none of them can achieve the look that this Chosungah lip dual has given me. It blends easily and is great for doing the gradient effect: this lip product is also perfect for achieving the "You Just Sucked On A Lollipop" look. The formula was very moisturising and creamy, and the best thing is the tint doesn't go into the cracks of my dry and chapped lips.  Considering its water-based formula, it is very pigmented and long lasting (Really, it's one of the most pigmented lip tint I owned).

The only downside for this product is that the gloss is very heavy.  Even though it doesn't stick my lips together (like some lip gloss do), the thickness might bother some of you as it feels like there is constantly something on your lips.

This is actually my first time using a product from Chosungah and I am very impressed.  I also noticed that they have recently launched a new lip stick, and I can't wait to get my hands on them.

Much love,
Janet

FACEShop Olive Essential Toner

FACEShop Olive Essential Toner
Price: $12 CAD
Blogsters' Rating: 4/5

Today we bring to you one of our favourite toner from the Korean Makeup/ skincare brand- Faceshop. Traditionally, toner is used to neutralize PH level on the face and shrink the appearance of pores but Japanese/ Korean toners also moisturize. The Olive Essential Toner is one of the most moisturizing toner I've ever used and has become a staple in my skincare routine.

Texture/ Colour
It is translucent white in colour with a thick texture that is heavier than most other toner I've used. However, it glides on the skin very smoothly. After the product has been absorbed, the skin doesn't feel sticky or greasy yet feels clean and moisturized.

Moisture
Usually toner is the first step of my skincare routine after washing my face. So it is the closest layer to the skin and helps lock in moisture.

Application
Aside from applying the essential toner to a fresh clean face, I also like to add a drop to my CC cream / foundation and mixing it in before applying it to my face. I find that the product would stick on the skin better and blends smoother. It also gives you a nice healthy, moisturize glow and streak-free guaranteed!

I guess the only downside to this toner is that it contains alcohol. For those of you who use ionic facial machines (ie. Hada Crie) like myself, this is unfortunately not a suitable product for it.

I would probably purchase this product again for its moisturizing properties.

If you like FACEShop, also check out my review on FACEShop White Seed Exfoliating Foam Cleanser.

Stay tuned for more skincare product reviews and feel free to drop us a few lines with any suggestions or what you want to see on Blogsters Beauty! Cheers~

MOON PRISM POWER MAKEUP! Miracle Romance SAILOR MOON Liquid Eyeliner

Creer Beaute Miracle Romance Sailor Moon Liquid Eyeliner
Price: $23.50 CAD on Amazon
Blogsters' Rating: 3.5/5

I have recently received this as a gift from one of my friends, and had immediately fell in love with it the moment I saw it.  It brought back many childhood memories - Sailor Moon, Luna, Tuxedo Mask (o*v*o).

To be honest, I couldn't help myself spending the whole day playing with the wand, pretending to be Sailor Moon, and yelling out "Moon prism power makeup!", instead of trying out the eyeliner...

Anyhow, my first impression of this eyeliner was it looks exactly like the Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner.  The felt tip, the cap, and the size of the eyeliner is very similar to the Dolly Wink one.  The felt tip is claimed to be as thin as 0.1mm.  I also found this eyeliner very skeptical as it claimed to be waterproof, but it is removable with hot water? Huh?!

I first tested it our on my wrist.  The felt tip is very easy to control, you can draw thin and thick lines fairly easily.  However, I noticed the pigmentation is not that great.  The black colour is not as solid as I would like it to be.  I would have to apply it on my eye for 2-3 times to get the desired "black".  I have also noticed that this eyeliner smudges easily.  If you have oily eyelids or watery eyes like I do, I would not recommend this for you.   The only way for this eyeliner not to smudge is to apply a very thin layer of it.  But then again, it won't be as pigmented.

Hope you guys like this short review of the Miracle Romance Sailor Moon Liquid Eyeliner.  If you have any questions or would like to recommend a product for our next review, please don't hesitate to leave a comment.  Until next time!

xoxo,
Janet

Too Cool For School ART CLASS by Rodin

Too Cool For School Art Class By Rodin
Price: ~$16 CAD
Blogsters' Rating: 4.5/5

Yayyy!! I have waited for this contouring kit for close to three weeks and I finally got it in the mail -   Too Cool for School Art Class By Rodin!!  I have been in need of a contouring palette, and decided to give this a try, as I am seeing it everywhere - on magazines, makeup websites, and YouTube videos.

The packaging for Art Class by Rodin is quite unique.  It really defines the reason why they have used "Art Class" as part of their name, as the appearance of the product is very much like an art piece.  The inspirations that made Rodin create this palette is also hidden inside the box.  The compact comes with a mirror, which comes very handy at times.  Also, the material feels very sturdy, not flimsy at all.  The slim design made is easier for travel.  The only downside is that you'll have to carry a brush along.

This palette comes in three different shades - a light brown, medium ash brown, and warm dark brown.  Since Too Cool for School is a Korean brand, the colour of this contouring kit is made to compliment the Asian skin tone, to achieve the most natural contouring effect.  I love how all three of the colours are very natural, and does not appear to be muddy or orangey.  I never have the feeling that I have dirt on my face with this contouring palette.  In addition, besides being a contouring kit, this palette can also be used as eye shadows.  The combination of these brown colours can create an everyday or work appropriate look.

This contouring kit also has a matte finish for the most natural effect.  If you would like a contouring palette that can create a more dramatic Kim K look, then you would have to keep looking.

The light brown colour in this palette is very close to my skin tone, maybe just a tad bit lighter.  As a result, it doesn't really do much for me.  I wish it has some shimmers in it, so that I could use it as a highlight on my nose bridge and on the high points of my face.
The medium ash brown is a perfect shade for nose contour.  I apply it to the sides of my nose bridge, the tip of the nose, and a little bit just under the front of my eyebrow to achieve a slimmer and taller nose.
Lastly, the medium dark brown is great for contouring the whole face, slimming down the jawline and hairline.

I would definitely repurchase this product again, but I feel like I don't have to in a very long time because you use very little of it every time and there's a lot of product inside the compact.  I have been to Too Cool for School website recently and noticed that they have released a similar product for highlighting.  If I have the chance, I would like to try out that product too.

xoxo,
Janet

Physicians Formula Eye Booster Eyeliner + Serum [Beauty Review]

Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Brush-Tip Eyeliner + Serum
Price: $12 CAD
Blogsters' Rating: 4/5

What a long name! In a nutshell, this product is a brush-tip liquid eyeliner that contains a lash enhancing serum. It claims to create lashes that instantly appear luscious, glamorous and dramatic. What's more is that it's hypoallergenic, fragrance free, paraben free, 24 hours wear, waterproof and smudge proof. All that packed in a eyeliner pen. Sounds like one hell of a product.

Application
With a very fine brush tip, this allows for a very precise application with very good control. I have been using brush tip liquid liner for a long time and it remains my favorite form of eyeliner.

Wear
I love how this product is highly water resistant and smudge resistant. It gives you that very defined solid black line that stays there throughout the whole day.

Color
The ultra black is very pigmented, Gives you a bold black line that lasts through the day.

Removal
Because it's waterproof and smudge proof, it does take a little more effort to remove than your typical makeup product. I personally use organic olive oil as a makeup remover and it works fine if you hold the cotton pad over the eyelid and wait a minute or so for the eyeliner to dissolve on its own and then gently massage the area to wipe off all the product. Do not rub your eyelids with force or you'll lose some lashes!

Lash Enhancing?
After a month of using this product, I have to say that there isn't a noticeable difference to the length of my lashes.

I would purchase this product again for its long lasting wear and precise application.

The Princess BB Cushion - Etude House Precious Mineral Moist Any Cushion

Etude House Precious Mineral Moist Any Cushion
Price: $21.60 USD
Blogsters' Rating: 3.5/5

Hi Blogstees!!

After two months of trying out this product, I finally felt like I'm ready to write a review on this product.  The Precious Mineral Moist Any Cushion is one of Etude House's best selling BB cushion.  I have heard a lot of good reviews about Etude House's BB cushion in general and decided to check it out myself.  I got mine off of Etude House website for $21.60 USD, in Natural Beige.

What it does?
The main feature of this product is the ability to retain moisture on your skin.  It contains 26.7% of Baobab water and 4 times more Hyaluronic Acid than other cushions for intensive and long lasting, all day hydration.  It also creates a transparent layer on your skin to enhance the glossy finish.  Etude House claims this BB cushion to be the 6-in-1 Almighty Cream Foundation Cushion as it moisturizes, whitens, anti-wrinkle, UV protection (SPF 50+ / PA+++), tone correcting, and glossy effect.

I did a Before & After picture on my wrist.  As you can see my veins are less noticeable after applying one layer of the BB cushion.  I would say it has a medium coverage and can definitely build up to a full coverage.  It also evens out my skin tone, and gives me a brighter and smoother finish.  The scent of this product is very strong, so it might not be great for those who have sensitive skin.  But it is a nice scent and you can smell the scent through out the day.  The only down side of this BB cushion is that the formula tends to be on the dryer side, even though it claims to be moisturizing and hydrating.  If my skin is not properly hydrated with a moisturizer before applying this BB cushion, it tends to cake around the nose and chin area.  I feel like this product would work better for those who have normal to oily skin.  It is a definite no-go for people who have dry skin.  Nonetheless, besides having a dry formula I would say this BB cushion is decent.  It does most of what it claims.  With its affordable price, it is a good alternatives to other higher end BB creams.

Love,
Janet xoxo

Perfect Photoshop Skin - Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur

Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur SPA15/PA+
Price: $15 USD / 35g
Blogsters' Rating: 5/5

What is it?
Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur is a face primer, that transform your face into a flawless and smooth canvas.  It contains Baby Pixel Powder (super fine particles), which fills in the pores and fine lines.  The natural whitening compound in this product brightens your complexion and cover imperfections flawlessly.

As you can see in the before and after picture.  My wrist look significantly brighter and smoother after the application.  I also noticed that my skin is very soft and the product is not greasy at all.  It has a strong floral scent, which might be irritating for some people.  The primer also reduced the colour of my veins.  I would say the coverage is light to medium.   You can definitely wear this primer alone, and not have to put on foundation as it already contain SPF (which is always a plus).  The Baby Pixel Power adds a shine to your skin, and provides a natural "growing" healthy look.  Sometimes I add another layer onto the high points of my face (i.e. nose bridge, cheekbones, forehead and chin) for highlighting purposes.

I have tried many high end face primers before (such as Make Up Forever, Smashbox, etc..), but none of them have the effect that this primer has given me.  Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur is by far my favourite face primer for the fraction of the cost.  Available on Etude House website for only $15/35g - it is a very good deal.  It does everything it claims, if not more.  I would repurchase this product for sure and recommend it to others.

Jihyo's Foundation - Jenny House 제니하우스 Perfect Skin One Shot Cover Stick Foundation

Jenny House Perfect Skin One Shot Cover Stick Foundation aka Jihyo's Foundation
Price: 38,2500 (~ $40CAD) / 12.5g
Blogsters' Rating: 5/5

Anyone who wants the flawless, glowy, natural skin that all Korean female stars have must purchase this product!  The Perfect Skin One Shot Cover Stick Foundation is introduced by Jenny House - one of the top beauty salon in South Korea.  The Perfect Skin One Shot Cover Stick Foundation is available for purchase on their website for 38,2500, click here for more information.

Jenny House Perfect Skin Foundation Stick is a 3 in 1 product - foundation, sun screen, and serum.  As you can see from the picture above, the outer rim is the foundation, and the inner white circle is the sun screen and serum.  This foundation contains, Vitamin C, Water Lily Flower extract, Avocado, and Acetyl Hexapeptide.  It claims to whiten your skin, minimize wrinkles, and increase the elasticity of your skin over time.  The foundation stick also comes with a slanted brush on the other end.  The brush is very dense and soft.  It is designed to have a 30 degree angle for easy application around the nose and other hard to reach areas.  This foundation stick should give you the most flawless, natural skin look that you will ever achieve with any other foundation, hence the name "Perfect Skin".

I love the little pink bow on the lid, it makes the whole packaging very cute and girly.    The brush head can be remove easily for cleaning, which is very important to me personally as I have sensitive skin, so I would like to clean my makeup brush as often as I could.  Refills are also available for this foundation stick.   However, like most of the BB cream and CC cream, this foundation stick also only comes in two different shades - No. 21 Light Beige and No. 23 Natural Beige.

I would say this foundation stick has a medium coverage but you can definitely build up on that.  It is very moist and light weight, it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything with this foundation on.  The serum within the foundation does help a lot in achieving the flawless, glowy, natural look that all female Korean artists have.  Overall, I love this product and will definitely purchase again.

Etude House Play 101 Pencil

Etude House Play 101 Pencil
Price: $6 USD
Blogsters' Rating: 5/5

Youtube was the place where I initially heard about Etude House Play 101 Pencil.  They come in more than 50 colours and five different textures (Creamy, Glitter, Shimmering, Matte & Glossy).  Since, they come in with many different colours and textures, some can also be used on the lips and cheeks.  They are waterproof and smudge proof, absolutely perfect for the summer.

I was really excited because they are one of the very first automatic gel eyeliner presented in the form of a pen.  As we all know, gel liners work the best for most girls in the summer but having to carry the little tub of gel liner along with an eye liner brush for touch ups during the day is just too hectic sometimes.  So, I went ahead and purchased myself three of these pencils in #48 (Brown with hints of Green Glitters), #20 (Creamy Hot Pink), and #6 (Shimmers Champagne).

Each of the pencil comes with a little sharpener at the end, which really does come in handy.  By sharpening the tip of the pencil, it gives you more accurate and precise application.  Since these pencils are very creamy, they do get dull very easily.

How I use them?
#48: Upper Inner & Outter Eyeline
#21: Upper Outter Eyeline, Lip Liner & Cheeks
#6: Inner Tear Duct as Highlight

Application?
The Application is really smooth.  The pencils are very creamy, they do not tuck on your eyelids at all.  Colours are very vibrant and pigmented, as you can see in the below picture.  This product is very waterproof and sweat proof.  I can easily wear these eyeliners for 12 hours without any smudging.

Etude House Play 101 Pencil has became one of my must have items.  The price is very affordable, and it is available to purchase on their website, Etude House. I will definitely purchase more in the future to add to my collection.

3CE Dot Eye Shadow Palette [beauty review]

3 Concept Eyes Dot Eye Shadow Palette (Saddle)
Price: $36 USD (on StyleNanda)
Blogsters' Rating: 4/5

This is my current favorite eye shadow palette that I use daily. Although this is a shimmery and sparkly palette, the earthy brown tones make them very versatile for all sorts of different occasions from daily makeup to formal event looks.

About 3CE
3Concept Eyes is a Korean makeup brand launched by Stylenanda in 2009. "3CE means creating unique individualities based on three colors: pink, orange and beige." There aren't many stores in North America that carry 3CE products so their online store is the best way to shop this brand while having full access to the entire collection.

Packaging
Very simple, clean and cute packaging with polka dots all over. The only down side is that it doesn't come with a brush or a mirror. For a 4 color palette, the packaging is quite big as well , making it not as convenient to carry around in the purse for touch-ups. (This is not a huge problem for me as I do not have a habit of touching up my make up on a day to day basis.)

Stylenanda.com
Colors
Pearly ivory and orange-y beige has hints of red while restrained sand beige and sparkling deep brown  are darker earthy brown tones. For an everyday look,  I use the restrained sand beige and sparkling deep brown with pearly ivory as a highlight.

Application
While this eye shadow applies very easily and is easy to blend, the color comes out more subtle than it looks on the palette. If you want more color intensity, you might want to double up the layers just as I have done on the picture above.

Does it smudge or crease?
Nope. It doesn't smudge easily or give you panda eyes. It also doesn't crease and stays on quite well.

Does it last long?
Without using an eye shadow primer, it is fairly long lasting but it did fade just a little bit by the end of the day.

Voila! A subtle everyday look for work using all 4 colors of the 3CE palette.

Overall I am very happy with the performance of this neutral color eye shadow palette with an added sparkling glamour. A downside would be that for a 4 colors shadow palette, the price is relatively high compared to other neutral color palettes with a wider color selection. (Probably because it is imported from Korea.) As I have heard a lot of good reviews about this brand in Asia, I am excited to try out other products from 3CE soon!
